…And all at once, summer collapsed into fall. -Oscar Wilde
Emmalee returned from the US and we decided that one more trip was necessary to conclude our summer vacation. Spain was the obvious choice. I have a deep love in my heart for Spain and I will never get sick of traveling there.
I’m switching up the way I write posts about travel, so let me know what you think in the comments.
Where I Went
We decided that a beach getaway was the necessary way to close out the summer. Mallorca seemed the perfect place to do it. Mallorca is an island off the east coast of Spain in the Mediterranean. It happens to be the largest of all the Balearic Islands. I visited Palma when I was studying in Spain in college and this time I opted to visit Calviá. Calviá is located on the southwest portion of the island. It is a very touristy place but it was just what we were looking for!
How I Got There
We flew one of our favorite airlines to and from Palma de Mallorca- Ryanair! I recently had the pleasure of taking my parents on a Ryanair flight over the summer and while I have grown accustomed of the quirks Ryanair has-they had not. They were not pleased with the long queue, the baggage rules, the in-flight service… everything. But here is the thing, Ryanair provides just what you need out of an airline, you need a way to move from Point A to Point B. Ryanair took us from Krakow to Palma and back. It did the job and it didn’t cost a lot of money at all. I’m all for Ryanair flights but I know they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. One more thing, when traveling Ryanair, particularly in Spain, there is a lot of fanfare upon landing. Normally, you know, the Ryanair trumpets go off and they tell you how they arrive on time to all of their destinations. This still happens but the Spanish are particularly cheerful upon landing. They applaud like they have just won the World Cup. It is unreal but also on the list of reasons I love Spain.
Where I Stayed
We stayed at the gorgeous H10 Casa del Mar hotel. This hotel was phenomenal. My favorite part of the hotel had to be the rooftop pool. This pool had the most amazing views of the beach and the water. The beds were so cozy and the canopy blocked all of the bright, summer sun. Now if you are going to visit at peak beach time, you need to arrive at the rooftop early to secure a good spot. If you snooze, you lose.
Where You Need to Go
Well, I must say that when we booked our trip to Palma I had one location in mind. THE BEACH! And where did I spend my time? On the beach! I highly recommend you swim in the sea and lounge on the beach. There’s nothing more refreshing or more beautiful than spending your time on the beach. Beaches breathe life back into you and refresh your perspective of the world.
